Applying for your Utah Concealed Firearm Permit
Submitting your Utah Concealed Firearms Permit application is simple, and may be done in person on weekdays between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM or through the mail. In either case, make sure your application is submitted to:

What Must Accompany the Application?
- A Photocopy of Your State Issued Driver License: Submitted on a full 8.5″ x 11″ piece of paper. Do not fold around or cut out the copy of your license.
- Photograph. One (1) passport quality photograph.
- Non-Resident Proof of Permit: If you reside in a state that recognizes the validity of the Utah Concealed Firearms Permit or has reciprocity with the State of Utah, you must first obtain a permit issued by your state of residence, and submit a copy of your current and valid permit along with your application. You may check to see if your sCFP or CCW from your home state and submit a copy of it with your application for a Utah permit. If your state does not recognize the Utah permit this does not apply.
- Fingerprint Card: One (1) fingerprint card must be completely filled out completely and legibly. Fingerprint cards that are not legible will be returned to the applicant and will cause a delay in application processing.
- Application Fee: For Utah residents the fee is $53.25. For non-residents, the application fee is $63.25. Please make checks and money orders payable to the “Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification.” Application fees are separate and in addition to class tuition for weapon familiarity certification.
- Weapon Familiarity Certification. Applicants must complete a firearms familiarity course certified by BCI. No exceptions. The course must be completed before you apply for a permit. Please have your instructor complete the certification information on the application.
Utah Concealed Firearms Permit Eligibility
In addition to meeting minimum age requirements for a Utah Concealed Firearms Permit (21 years of age for Applicant must be at least 21 years of age for the standard permit and at least 18 years of age for the provisional permit); applicants must have *proof of good character” as outlined by Utah law. Specifically, the applicant:
- has not been convicted of a felony;
- has not been convicted of any crime of violence;
- has not been convicted of any offense involving the use of alcohol;
- has not been convicted of any offenses involving the unlawful use of narcotics or other controlled substances;
- has not been convicted of any offenses involving moral turpitude;
- has not been convicted of any offense involving domestic violence;
- has not been adjudicated by a court of a state or of the United States as mentally incompetent, unless the adjudication has been withdrawn or reversed
- is qualified to purchase and possess a firearm pursuant to Section 76-10-503 and federal law
